Martin Soros

Hi! I'm Martin.

As a senior studying civil engineering, theology, and education at the University of Notre Dame, I am driven by a deep commitment to use my education and opportunities to make a tangible impact on communities in need.

I’m passionate about the intersection of engineering and social impact, understanding that quality infrastructure is foundational to breaking cycles of poverty and creating pathways for economic opportunity. I’m also deeply invested in education and teaching, believing that empowering others with knowledge and skills is key to lasting change.

Beyond my technical pursuits, I’m dedicated to Catholic digital evangelization and youth ministry. I believe that faith and service are inseparable, and that meaningful change requires both technical excellence and genuine care for the dignity of every person, particularly those who are most vulnerable and marginalized.

Bridge design & construction

I served as bridge designer for a team of 8 engineering students at the University of Notre Dame, leading the year-long design of a 45-meter (150 ft) suspended footbridge in Villa Charcas, Bolivia. Our team then spent two months living in the community, working alongside local residents to physically construct the bridge we had designed.

As the bridge designer, I compiled the complete drawing set and performed a series of in-depth structural calculations.

3d Modeling and fabrication

I design client projects in SolidWorks, fabricating prototypes through laser-cut plywood and 3D printing at Notre Dame’s Innovation Lab. I also develop detailed architectural models using SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
